Grilled Teriyaki Bass with Noodles Recipe

Nothing could be easier than this grilled fish and it is absolutely delicious. Bass fillets are dressed up in homemade teriyaki sauce and grilled to perfection. Serve the grilled teriyaki bass over a bed of piping hot egg noodles, this will help you to do more than just trim your waistline - it will helps you to lower your blood cholesterol and improve your heart health too.

Ingredients :

Serves 4
Preparation time : 5 minutes
Cooking time : 10 minutes

  • sunflower oil spray

  • 4 bass fillets, about 175g (6oz) each

  • 250g (8oz) medium egg noodles

  • 1 tablespoons sesame oil

  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped chives

  • 3 spring onions, finely chopped

     

    Teriyaki sauce :

  • 75ml (3 fl oz) mirin or medium dry sherry

  • 75ml (3 fl oz) light soy sauce

  • 75ml (3 fl oz) chicken stock

Healthy Easy Fish Recipe - Grilled Teriyaki Bass with Noodles

Method :

  1. Make the teriyaki sauce. Put the mirin or sherry in a saucepan, bring to the boil and simmer for 2 minutes or until reduced by half. Add the soy sauce and stock, stir and remove from the heat.

  2. Line a grill pan with foil, spray with oil and arrange the bass fillets on the foil. Brush the fish with the teriyaki sauce and cook under a preheated hot grill for 5-6 minutes, basting often with the sauce.

  3. Meanwhile, cook the noodles in lightly salted boiling water for 3 minutes or according to the instructions on the packet. Drain and stir in the sesame oil, chives and spring onions.

  4. Serve the bass on a bed of piping hot noodles and drizzle over any juices from the grill pan.

Variations :

For teriyaki tofu with stir-fried cabbage, replace with 2 x 250g (8oz) packets tofu. Slice horizontally and cook as above. Meanwhile, stir-fry 250g (8oz) shredded Chinese cabbage and 1 sliced red pepper. Serve tofu hot on a bed of the stir-fried cabbage.
