Mornay Sauce Recipe

 

This homemade mornay sauce goes well with lasagne, cauliflower or broccoli au gratin, as well as oysters.

Ingredients :

preparation time 5 minutes
cooking time 5 minutes
makes 2 cups

  • 1 cup (250ml) béchamel sauce

  • ¼ cup (60ml) cream

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1 cup (120g) coarsely grated emmentaler cheese

Method :

  1. Bring béchamel to a boil in medium saucepan, add cream and egg yolk, whisk 1 minute.

  2. Remove sauce from heat; add cheese, stir until cheese melts.

Tip : Substitute gruyère or cheddar for emmentaler.
