Dang Gui Soup In Coconut Recipe

Angelica sinensis (Dang Gui) is a tonic for blood and often used traditionally by woman to regulate menstrual cycle, relieve menstrual cramps and treat menopausal symptoms. It acts as a general tonic for the female reproductive system.

Ingredients :Traditional Chinese Hakka Confinement Food Recipe - Dang Gui Soup In Coconut

  • ½ kampong chicken

  • 50g Angelica sinensis or "female ginseng" (Dang Gui)

  • 1 tbsp Chinese wolfberries or goji berries (Qi Zi)

  • 10 pcs black dates

  • 1 old coconut

  • adequate rice wine or "huang jiu" (to fill up 80% of coconut shell)

Method :

  1. Skin and blanch the chicken. At the same time truncate the top of old coconut shell, then use the coconut shell as a container. (picture 2)
